Pediatric Programs
Our Pediatric Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides structured, evidence-based mental health care for children ages 9–12 who are struggling with emotional, behavioral, or psychological challenges.

When a child is struggling with emotional or behavioral challenges, it can affect every part of their life—from home and school to friendships and self-confidence. Our Pediatric Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to provide children with the care and support they need to feel better, function more effectively, and regain a sense of emotional stability.
Our IOP offers structured, short-term treatment for children who need more than weekly therapy, but who do not require inpatient hospitalization. We help children ages 9-12 learn to understand and manage their emotions, build coping skills, and strengthen family relationships—all in a safe, nurturing environment that supports their developmental needs.
This program is ideal for children experiencing persistent anxiety, depression, school avoidance, behavioral outbursts, difficulty with focus or impulse control, or those who are having trouble coping with stress, trauma, or life transitions. It may be especially helpful for children who have not improved through traditional outpatient therapy alone, or who are transitioning from a higher level of care.

Levels of care
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our IOP provides a more frequent and concentrated level of care than typical outpatient therapy. Service is available at our San Jose clinic. The goal of the IOP level of care is to develop unique skills so that each client can discharge feeling improved function and enhanced ability to cope with and manage their mental health challenges.
Frequency: Treatment is 3 hours per day – Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. In-person only.
Duration: Eight-weeks.
What to expect
Clinical Care: A Safe and Supportive Therapeutic Environment
Sessions are held multiple times per week, and the schedule is designed to allow children to maintain as much connection to school and home life as possible. Our clinicians use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, and trauma-informed care, depending on your child’s unique needs.
During the program, children typically participate in:
-
Individual therapy to explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and build trust with a licensed therapist.
-
Group therapy sessions focused on emotional regulation, problem-solving, and peer connection in a supportive setting.
-
Creative therapies such as art, play, movement, or mindfulness activities that help children express themselves in developmentally appropriate ways.
Family Involvement: Empowering Caregivers to Support Healing at Home
Family participation is a vital part of the healing process. We work closely with parents and caregivers to strengthen the support system surrounding each child.
As part of the program, families can expect:
-
Regular family therapy sessions to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and support long-term success at home.
-
Parent coaching and education, offering strategies to better manage behaviors, reinforce coping skills, and reduce stress at home.
-
Ongoing collaboration in treatment planning and goal-setting, so families feel informed, empowered, and connected throughout the process.
