Group therapy can be an ideal choice for addressing concerns and making positive changes in your life. One therapist will be leading a group of 6-8 patients. Typically, groups meet for an hour each week. Joining a group of strangers may sound frightening at first, but group therapy provides benefits that individual therapy may not. In fact, group members are almost always surprised by how rewarding and effective the group experience can be.
Regularly talking and listening to others also helps you put your own problems in perspective. Many people experience mental health difficulties, but few speak openly about them, even to close friends or family members. Group therapy helps you realize you’re not alone. Working in a group with others who suffer from the same problem removes this feeling of isolation. While it’s true that each of us is unique and may have unique circumstances, none of us is alone in our struggles. It can be a relief to hear others discuss what they’re going through, and realize you’re not alone.
The purpose of this group is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and empowering space for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual/Pansexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, A-Sexual, A-Romantic, A-Gender, Intersex, 2-Spirit, HIV+ and More (LGBTQIA2+) adult, ages 18+, to process their challenging experiences and personal victories, and receive support from other members of their communities who are empathetic and understanding. Participants who attend this group should be mindful that they may hear things that are upsetting, and therefore, should be ready to use the coping skills and support others in the group to do the same. The following agreements are asked in order to participate: Respect everyone’s privacy and individual story; Assume good intent; Seeking understanding, not blame; Take space, Make space. Participants must be willing to act under these agreements before attending the group.

Participants who attend this group should be mindful that they may hear things that are upsetting, and therefore, should have some emotional regulation skills. This is an 8-week skills based psycho-educational workshop focused on learning evidence-based practical tools for coping with stress, anxiety and mood difficulty.

Will be conducted in 8-week cycles and enrollment will be ongoing. Participants are expected to attend all 8 sessions.
