I have been practicing psychiatry for 40+ years and have served in various leadership roles in community agencies. I am experienced in treating depressive disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for treatment resistant depression, and integrative psychiatry. I believe that in treating a patient you must treat the whole person including evaluating their relational, psychosocial, physical, and mental health. My drive to help others has inspired my career in mental health, a passion that grew during my time as a psychology major and through my medical school experience. I enjoy getting to know my patients on a personal level and seeing them reach their goals to live happy, healthy lives.

SHAMALA KANCHAN, MD

I have been practicing since 1996 specializing in adult and geriatric psychiatry. I am involved in diagnostic assessments and ongoing consultation with patients and families. My focus is on neurological disorders, managing behavioral problems, and appropriate pharmacological interventions. I am also involved in providing follow-up services including patient groups which help caregivers with transitional care and efficient planning for their loved ones, facilitating quarterly educational seminars in the clinic, in-service training for staff, training Geriatric Psychiatry fellows, and outreach to minority populations. I speak various Indian languages including Kannada, Tulu, Hindi, Marathi, and understand Gujarati and Punjabi. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with her family, cooking, music, traveling, and exploring different techniques for mind-body practices.

AHSAN SHAIKH, MD

I use a strength based approach to healing focused on developing self-awareness through compassion. As part of the healing process, I support families in their journey to uncover the wisdom hidden in their distress. I have experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, psychosis, and trauma. I specialize in Mind Body approaches to healing, integrating yoga, exercise, nutrition and restful sleep into treatment plans. I have given numerous trainings on Strength Based Diagnosis, Psychotropic Medications, Post-Traumatic Stress and Spirituality in Mental Health Care. In addition to psychopharmacology, I have been trained in Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, EMDR, Trauma Focused CBT and Mind Body Medicine. The most influential training has come from raising my three children.

I believe in keeping the patient’s concerns front and center when making treatment plans and it delights me to see them get better. I believe many individuals are capable of brilliant insights that can bring lasting joy and peace in their lives. I believe in the great potential of cognitive behavior therapy and other therapies. Sometimes therapy works even better when combined with the right psychiatric medication. I enjoy working with other clinicians on collaborative care.

DANIEL PIMSTONE, MD

I am trained in adult general psychiatry with a specialization in addiction medicine. I attended UCLA as an undergraduate majoring in psychobiology, received my medical degree from the University of California Davis in 2005, then returned home to my roots to complete my psychiatry residency and addiction fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. I bring a unique perspective having practiced in many different professional settings including private hospitals, research institutions, county mental health, the VA, residential treatment programs and out-patient clinics. I have experience working in consult liaison, in-patient, IOP, PHP, residential treatment and out-patient settings. I look forward to the privilege of working with you soon.

YURIY DOBRY, MD

Over the years working as a psychiatrist, I have developed extensive knowledge and expertise in managing challenging patients with variety of psychiatric diagnoses. I have focused my expertise on helping people struggling with complex psychiatric problems; patients who have not found relief from their symptoms despite multiple previous treatments. The approach I find the most effective for treatment resistant, seemingly hopeless problems in psychiatry is tailoring a unique treatment protocols for each patient. In formulating treatment approaches for patients struggling with treatment-resistant, severe depression, bipolar, anxiety and other psychiatric disorders, I often integrate Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) with medication treatment and psychotherapy to achieve best results for my patients. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has been shown to be a very effective tool for patients who have failed to get better with multiple antidepressants.

RAJAN GOSAIN, MD

I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and earned my medical degree from the Saba University School of Medicine. I completed my psychiatry training at Harvard South Shore and Tufts Medical Center Residency Training Programs. During my training, I received the VA Special Contribution Award by the Department of Veterans Affairs for my leadership in creating a Mindfulness workshop for veterans in a residential program for co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. I have completed advanced training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy and am an active member of the Clinical TMS society. I have led clinical teams in various treatment settings including specialized intensive treatment programs for mood, OCD and anxiety disorders.

SRIKANTH CHALLAGUNDLA, MD

After completing my psychiatric residency at Nassau University Medical Center and addiction psychiatry fellowship training at University of Massachusetts Medical Center, I have worked in multiple settings including emergency room, inpatient acute care, detoxification center, drug rehabilitation, outpatient, as well as at a correctional facility.
Working in these various settings have exposed me to various psychiatric illnesses in different settings with varying severity. I focused on patient-centric treatment and have realized the importance of patients understanding the illness and making treatment choices based on their complete understanding. I include different psychotherapy modalities to complement the medications used to stabilize patients. I have taken interest in helping patient suffering with treatment resistant depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, ADHD, schizophrenia, OCD, panic disorders, eating disorders, impulse control disorders and co-occurring substance abuse disorders. I firmly believe that patient’s active participation in the treatment and having good understanding of the illness facilitates quick stabilization and good outcomes. Since the completion of my training in 2013, I had been fortunate enough to take up on multiple leadership roles and develop programs with core emphasis on overall patient’s well-being with patient’s active role in designing those programs. SANDEEP DENDULURI, MD

I am well-versed in the use of psychedelics, including ketamine, psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, and other promising substances being studied for their potential to reduce pain and increase well-being. I am also trained in cutting-edge techniques such as electroconvulsive therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and can provide guidance on other forms of brain stimulation.

KARTHIK RAMGOPAL, DO

Through my residency training and fellowship, I have become a physician who looks toward developing balance in the medical, psychological and interpersonal realms. Although medications have their place, I believe the most profound outcomes occur when we treat the whole person. As such, I incorporate cognitive/behavioral strategies, mindfulness techniques, meditation, and family-based interventions into my appointments. With these skills, I have developed expertise in treating a wide array of psychiatric disorders in both kids and adults, including: Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Eating Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Autism, Intellectual Disability, ADHD, Personality Disorders, Conduct Disorder, Impulse Control Disorders, OCD, Tourette’s Disorder, Dissociative Disorders, Sleep problems, and more. Additionally, I have a special interest in South Asian and LGBT mental health. Throughout my career, I have participated in mental health advocacy, education in multidisciplinary settings (to pediatrics, medical students, lawyers, etc.), and recently won a poster presentation award for co-writing a children’s book focusing on mental health.

FERHAD AHMAD, MD

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) with a minor in Humanities/Health Care and Social Issues, where I first cultivated my commitment to the medical profession.

Following college, I joined AmeriCorps*VISTA, a national anti-poverty service program where volunteers serve in communities throughout the US, focusing on enriching educational programs and vocational training for the nation’s underprivileged classes. I worked as a program coordinator for Family Pathfinders, a partnership of community volunteer teams in Houston, Texas.

After completing medical school at the Ross University School of Medicine, I worked at the Mount Sinai Medical Center as a Liver/Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Liaison, where I worked directly with the transplant psychiatrist. This solidified my appreciation and passion for trying to help alleviate emotional distress. This led to my pursuit of psychiatry.

I completed my psychiatry residency and a child psychiatry fellowship at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center, where I also served as a Chief Fellow. I found child psychiatry a way to have a more complete knowledge of my patients.

I believe in engaging in my community and stay active by volunteering. In my free time, I enjoy running and traveling.

NEIL RAJDEV, MD

I am a general adult psychiatrist with experience treating a variety of conditions and a special interest in OCD, student-athlete mental health, mood and anxiety disorders. I employ a holistic view of mental health that first requires being curious about the unique dynamics that might be affecting your well-being. While medications are often important, I also believe in addressing aspects of one’s lifestyle (sleep, exercise, diet) and examining interpersonal, occupational, among other stressors in a judgement-free, supportive environment.

Every person has their own lived experience and I strive to partner with you to develop a treatment plan that works for your individual needs. During residency I received extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and exposure/response prevention therapy and work to incorporate aspects of these into my work. Above all, I hope to empower you to identify and apply your intrinsic strengths to tackle life’s challenges.
